‘LOGAN’ TRAILER PITS WOLVERINE IN A MUTANT APOCALYPSE
Fox releases the first trailer for Hugh Jackman’s final X-Men film.
Things don’t look to be going well for mutants in the first trailer for Fox’s Logan, rumored to be the final appearance of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the studio’s X-Men franchise. The trailer features an older version of the character set in a world where mutants are now a scarcity. When he reunites with Professor X (Patrick Stewart) he discovers a mysterious young girl that somehow ties to his past. From there the film looks like something of an action-packed road trip to save the life of the girl (speculated to be X-23, a female clone of Wolverine) who is being pursued by a villainous group known as the Reavers.
The film looks shocking different from any other movie in the X-Men franchise, which isn’t a bad thing at all, and the decision to use Johnny Cash’s cover of Nine Inch Nail’s ‘Hurt’ was perfect. It’s clear that director James Mangold is going for a tale that’s more personal and visceral than what we’ve come to expect from the genre. Check the trailer below and catch Logan in theaters March 3, 2017.
