Today we wanted to highlight Spider-Man’s greatest battles and rank them. These battles are some of Spider-Man’s best moments where he’s up against things he’s never handled, but he came through victorious anyway.

5.) Spider-Man vs. Rhino (The Amazing Spider-Man #41-43)

Property of Marvel Comics

Rhino is a large character with power like a bulldozer. His Rhino armor enhances his strength and stamina beyond those of an average human, and he has razor sharp horns. Rhino is a tank who’s gone toe to toe with the likes of Hulk and gave Spider-Man some trouble as well.

In The Amazing Spider-Man #43, Spider-Man runs into Rhino a second time after #41. He starts to give Spidey trouble with his brute strength. Rhino broke through Spider-Man’s web in #41, so he needed a new plan to keep him tied up and melt his artificial suit. Spidey made an acid web to catch Rhino.

While Peter knew Rhino was mighty, he came up with a solution that’d fix his problem. That’s one of the things that allows Spider-Man to overcome villains like the Rhino and others on the list. The battle between Spider-Man and Rhino goes to show you don’t need to be the Hulk to defeat a brute.

4.) Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin (The Amazing Spider-Man #122)

Property of Marvel Comics

This battle is not only meaningful to Spider-Man, but it’s also a staple for Comic Book fans. The fight in the ‘The Night Gwen Stacy Died’ story arc was most likely Peter’s most emotional since it caused the death of Gwen Stacy.

Rage blinded Spider-Man. Stacy’s death is one of the biggest deaths in the Marvel universe, and it made way for Mary Jane. Her and Uncle Ben’s deaths helped shape Spider-Man, and they’re several of the longest standing deaths in comics.

Green Goblin in The Night Gwen Stacy Died was one of Spider-Man’s best battles. While it wasn’t long nor too matched, the impact it had on the character and his story makes this worthy enough to be on the list.

The craziest thing about this battle is how invulnerable the Juggernaut is. Spider-Man kicks and punches the Juggernaut while he’s walking towards Madam Webb, but nothing phases him. The Juggernaut continues to walk while Spidey tries to land some good blows on him. Eventually, Peter has to get Madam Webb off her life support and to a hospital to avoid the Juggernaut.
